ITEM OF THE MONTH
Parkinson's Pillow
April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month! Parkinson’s Disease, or PD, is a disorder of the central nervous system that impacts dopamine-producing neurons. The lack of dopamine causes difficulty in automatic movement. PD most commonly has symptoms of tremors and stiffness in movement. Parkinson’s is common in people over 50 years of age, impacting approximately 1 million U.S. citizens and more than 10 million worldwide. Parkinson’s treatment mainly aims to increase and regulate dopamine levels. While many people struggle with PD in varying levels of severity, it is possible for those diagnosed to live quality lives!
So what can you do? You can use the Parkinson’s Foundation campaign hashtag #plan4pd to raise awareness! Also, with #plan4pd you can educate yourselves on PD and see how it’s impacted people’s lives and hear how people are taking steps towards empowerment.
This pillow shows red tulips, the official symbol for Parkinson’s Disease! This pillow has been purchased, but if you'd like one like it feel free to email me!
